OconomoWalk and Bike

Come ride Lake Country with OconomoWalk & Bike! You don’t need an expensive bike and a Spandex suit to ride with us – just any bike in good repair, a helmet, and a desire to explore Lake Country’s scenic views or outstanding shopping while your car stays at home. The Lake Country Trail, the Glacial Drumlin Trail and a network of safe, low traffic streets and country roads make biking a perfect way to get to know Lake Country.

OconomoWalk & Bike advises local government on safe cycling routes, publishes maps of scenic rides and routes to shopping areas, sponsors weekly group rides and holds two annual events to teach kids about biking safety. If you’re a cyclist, or want to get back into cycling, we’d love to meet you!

THE ICE CREAM RIDE – June 25, 9:00 at Imagination Station in Roosevelt Park. Ride approximately 8 miles around scenic Lac LaBelle. Kids under 14 get a free cone of Whelan’s ice cream after the ride. Adults are welcome, too. Safe practices for riding on city streets will be emphasized.

TWO FRIENDLY, FUN RIDES ON THE LAKE COUNTRY TRAIL – Every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout  July. Both begin and end at Imagination Station. Tuesdays at 1:00, Wednesdays at 6:30. Ride as far as you like out and back on the LCT. Experienced OWB members will lead and bring up the rear. All ages and degrees of experience are welcome. Come and make some new friends, or bring your friends along!

KIDS’ BICYCLE ROADEO, August 16 at Roosevelt Park, in conjunction with Kids’Fest. Preschool and elementary school age kids learn safe cycling skills by riding a closed circuit course with simulated traffic situations.
